As by the title, this is a rant. It is not a rant about glitches in the game or Electronic Aholes. This is a rant about the players. Every day, every minute, and every second I play Battlefield 3 (and sometimes other BF games as well), all I ever see is people blatantly ignoring the objective. I know people have the right to play however they want, but honestly, at least have the courtesy of helping the team. One perfect example for this? I was playing on Strike at Karkand, Rush. My team was on the second base. A team mate walks right up to the A objective and sits next to it. I try to cover while he plants. The only thing is, he didn't plant. He sat there for about 5-10 seconds and then proceeded to run out onto the road and try to kill enemies who weren't even looking at us. Battlefield 3 has been over ran. It has been over ran by players who care more about their kill count than they do their win count. I mean, why play an objective based game if you are NOT going to play the objective? Why make the experience for others a tough one so that you may have a shiny 1.03 KDR? Why, just why? It makes absolutely no sense to blatantly not play the objective. Last time I checked, playing the objective has no downfalls. Of course, you may lose, but at the end of that game you'll know that you tried. On top of that, it will not only make you a better player but it will also make you progress through the 145 ranks much easier than if you just went after kills. Another benefit of playing the objective, is when you do it right. When you play the objective right, you start winning. When you start winning, the other team loses the momentum. When the other team loses momentum, they start making mistakes. When the other team starts making mistakes, kills are easier. When kills are easier, it is easier to protect the objective. When it is easier to protect the objective, you win. When you win, you are a boss! Be a boss and play the objective! PTFO!
"Strike at Karkand, Rush" That wouldn't have happened today would it? Playing a round of Rush same map. I was the only planter for the first 2 bombs, everyone else was to busy setting respawns ontop of buildings so that they can snipe. So freak'n stupid.
No, it was a few weeks ago actually. But the image of that moment will always stay in the Battlefield part of my brain.
Yeah but I agree with you. It's dumb to join an objective base game with people only going for kills. A great player should be able to do that all while going after objective, not go for kills first.
Signed up here just to say this: When you play the objective right, you start winning. When you start winning, the other team loses the momentum. When the other team loses momentum, they start making mistakes. When the other team starts making mistakes, kills are easier. When kills are easier, it is easier to protect the objective. When it is easier to protect the objective, you win. When you win, you are a boss! This is now my life motto, thank you good sir!
I have been noticing this a lot and its getting kinda anoying. It seems like the motto is slowly going from PTFO to KTA. If you want to kill them all then atleast ptfo at the same time. I have also have noticed a lot of dick teammates that for example, just use the choppers to get somewhere and bail out not carring that they are the pilot or using it to get to a high spot just to snipe. I also have been noticing quickscopers popping up on TDM
I know the feeling, dude. I was playing Rush on Kharg Island not too long ago, and one of my squadmates was on the pipes that stretch out from the second set of M-COMS. On the set before that, he was on the carrier. Of course, he was trying to snipe. Unsurprisingly, he went 1-3 by the end of the game. Luckily, the rest of our team actually had some common sense and was able to push up and ultimately take the win. The point is, that could have easily been more than just one player. But that one player killed my mood, and pissed me off, because he wasn't playing the objective, and when he was the only spawn point alive, getting myself and the rest of my squad to the objective became beyond difficult.
I feel your pain, there's been countless times where I would literally put my team on my back and carry them to a victory and be annoyed by how bad and stupid my team is. Cause they decide it's time to enjoy the scenery of the maps instead of ptfo.
Where are the blueberries? This is always what my squad is saying. They are never anywhere to be found
You hit the nail on the head. When I bought Battlefield 3, I expected it to be a team oriented game, just like the previous battlefield games. Every game I played, whether it was rush or conquest, I revived, tossed med packs, ammo, repaired vehicles, and even set down motion sensors and spawn beacons for my squad. One moment in particular, me and my friend Adam were playing rush on Kharg island and none of us were support. It was like 200% tickets and we were defending the first two objectives. My friend ran out of ammo trying to shoot a helicopter down with his igla. I also was running low so we found a support guy and repeatedly asked for ammo for 2 minutes. I ended up committing suicide to change to support. You will never see me NOT going for objectives and I always help our team to win. Battlefield 3 sucks because of its community. Don't get me wrong, when my team came back from a deficit and won or just flat out worked as a team, it was enjoyable. BUT, as soon as I can, I will be getting Bad Company 2 for my PS3 (I had it on xbox, but that got RROD). I will be playing that a lot more. EA fucked its long time fans over by having DICE create a 'CoD' friendly game. Bad Company 2 will always have a place in my heart for the simple fact that the majority of the community was more aimed towards winning (using non-cheap tactics) than getting kills.
Actually i am an ex CoD player BF3 is my first battlefield the writer of the post got me intrested into battlefield. In CoD there was always that nolife or glitcher or Sh*t talker to get me mad as hell.I went to battlefield beta i loved even operation metro (for a short time) i planted the objective everytime some guy would just wait for the enemy to come i would revive and supply ammo (couldnt repair in beta) and i still do all of that i learned about teamwork from Ivan up there and now i still do all of that i even sometimes run into fire and revive teamates even though i might die and sometimes do but i know how you feel i ran outa ammo and a support passed by i asked for ammo and he just walked on by me and my friend both are CoD but we both always support our team and eachother weather reviving, repairing, or giving ammo
I'm going to throw this out there: I honestly think new players think that health packs and ammo packs can only be dropped once. There's no tutorial, and I just get this vibe that the reason they are being so stingy is that they believe they only have one to use. Call me crazy, but that's just how I feel. I can relate to this quite a bit. I haven't had the experiences some of you have had on Operation Metro. In fact, in my experiences, Operation Metro (Rush) is the best chance to have teams PTFO. Now Operation Firestorm on the other hand, I seem to have a knack for being stuck on the team with multiple copter campers and recon guys everywhere...except of course capturing objectives. Any server with 200% or more and playing Operation Firestorm I will absolutely not go in. Personally, I love the map when its played with a good balance, but when all the tanks are sitting in the base, Recon guys are just scattered everywhere, and 2-3 people are camping each aerial vehicle spawn, I can't stand it. If my quit rate has to suffer so I can find a server where people know how to play the f*n game, so be it.
We need a famous YouTuber to make a commentary showing how much more XP you get from playing the objective compared to only getting kills. Here are easy comparisons based on a game of Domination: -Standing on a flag for maximum 7 seconds = 450 XP -Getting a second flag= 450 XP -Altogether equaling 9 whole kills! OMG The YouTuber should play a game of Domination or Conquest and solely go for objectives, put on the sprint perk and run like a mad man! I bet that they could easily get 1st place overall with 0 kills... Proving the effectiveness of going for the objective and imagine if he was getting kills at the same time! You just have to prioritize!
I'm working on some PSA's for YouTube to try and get more and more people to play the objectives. I already have one out. The next one could be out this week.
Hopefully it gets lots of attention, or we can "partition" BF3 so all the CoD players are in a whole other server Browser than the BF3 vets.
The last one got some attention, but not enough to be a movement. Only about 25K views or less. I'm hoping for a viral hit so that a good amount of BF3 players can check it out.
I hear ya, I play the objective as much as I can. I'm usually the first one rushing towards each flag on Domination. I have ended up with the most XP in the game almost every time on my team because I play the objective and just keep attacking and killing everything I see so I can get to the objective. A lot of the time, I get killed on an objective as I'm capturing it while my team is off doing god knows what. A lot of the time, they are camping on Donya Fortress dropping C4 or sniping at C, while the enemy team has C captured. . I cannot stand snipers in this game. Sitting 1000 meters away from the action missing shot after shot expecting a hit marker and not hitting shit. I switch to another squad when I see that happen.
I find that on the b2k maps more people snipe than ptfo. But on the vanilla maps most people are better are ptfoing specially in rush
